With over 60 offices in over 35 countries around the world, Outpost is uniquely placed to provide assistance to Shell expatriates and their families on the move. The network can provide inside information and professional services on most aspects of life abroad, and in particular, on anything related to living in specific locations where Shell is present. It was established to support Shell expatriates and their families on the move by providing a more accessible way of obtaining non-contractual advice, information and services regarding postings.
Practical help – designed to help you find the answer to any question relating to everyday life in your new or potential location (both pre-departure and during settling in). Such as: can I import my car and if so how? What are the education opportunities for me? What are my childcare options? How can I meet new people?
Personal advice – providing information, advice and guidance to help partners meet their career and development needs. This might include providing information on employment, personal development, self-employment, voluntary work and educational opportunities.
By providing an ongoing point of contact – someone you know you can turn to at any time before or during your posting when needs and questions arise.
By publishing information across the whole network: Inside Guides for practical information about life in a location; Business Briefs which contains simple tips to get you through the first few days; and Career and Development Guides for longer term plans.
Through web-sites, newsletters, and information exchange services, all provided by other expats, people like you!
By facilitating networking through organising networks of volunteers of many nationalities to meet and greet new arrivals in a location, and arranging informal get-togethers to welcome new arrivals, introduce them to other newcomers and also, to provide them with an opportunity to pick up resources on their new location.
There are over 60 independent Outpost teams located around the world, each with a Focal Point and staffed with Shell partners.
In The Hague, in addition to the local Outpost office, there is Global Outpost Services (known as GOS) providing advice, assistance, resources and guidance to the network. GOS is also responsible for producing Destinations Magazine, and the Global Outpost website (with an extensive listing of worldwide resources, links and information for all expats).
If you need assistance then please get in touch with your local office. If there is not an office in your location or you would like to help the network, then you can contact GOS using the following address:
